The 11th annual Farm to Table Dinner took place at Davis Pavilion in Pass Christian, Mississippi. Approximately 80 people attended the event, which serves as a fundraising mechanism for the Pass Christian Main Street organization.
Local culinary professionals prepared a five-course menu for the gathering. Field’s Italian provided the appetizer, while Cajun Connection prepared the soup course. The dinner features contributions from various regional chefs and establishments.
Marie Lamb, a self-taught chef and potter, has participated in the event for five years. She prepared both the salad and the dessert for the meal. Lamb also created the pottery plates used to serve her salad course.
Lamb described the preparation process as enjoyable. “It’s work, but it’s happy work. You know, it’s the type of work you don’t regret and you don’t get tired from doing it because you just go and we have a ball. So whether you’re enjoying the meal or you’re doing this part,” she said.
Executive Director Bug Broussard stated that the event strengthens community ties in addition to raising funds. “We always have a good time here. So we’ve got the music playing, we’ve got everybody that knows everybody, but that is one thing about the Pass. We’re all neighbors and so we just enjoy getting together and having a good time,” Broussard said. He noted that ongoing contributions from chefs, businesses, sponsors, and volunteers sustain the annual tradition.
