Anthropic files for record stock sale
The company may raise up to $100 billion, potentially surpassing the previous record set by SpaceX.

Anthropic filed paperwork on Monday for a potential public offering that could raise as much as $100 billion US, a sum that would exceed the $86 billion raised by SpaceX during its debut in June.
The San Francisco based firm, which develops the Claude chatbot, is preparing for a Wall Street listing next month. This move positions the company to go public before its main rival, OpenAI. The filing arrives just weeks after CEO Dario Amodei published an essay arguing that developers should slow the pace of creating advanced AI models due to potential existential risks.
The company was founded five years ago by Amodei and his sister, Daniela. A successful sale is expected to increase their personal wealth by billions of dollars. Private investors valued Anthropic at $965 billion US earlier this year. Recent reports suggest that value could climb to between $1.5 trillion and $2 trillion, though a final figure has not been set. If the valuation reaches $1.5 trillion, the company would rank alongside Tesla among the most valuable public firms globally.
A 335 page document submitted to regulators reveals the company's financial trajectory. Revenue is growing quickly, but Anthropic has not yet generated a profit. It reported a net loss of $80.7 billion US for the first half of 2026. This figure contrasts sharply with a loss of $13 billion US recorded during the same period in the previous year.
The offering details remain fluid, with the final valuation and offering price yet to be determined. Regardless of the final numbers, the capital raised will provide substantial resources for the company to accelerate its expansion plans.
Anthropic stated in its regulatory filing that it intends to list its shares on the Nasdaq Global Select Market. Investors will use the ticker symbol ANT to trade the stock once it begins public circulation.
