New York Gov. Kathy Hochul and rapper Nicki Minaj traded insults Wednesday.

The conflict arose as the state entered the final days of its gubernatorial campaign. Minaj, who supports President Donald Trump and other Republican candidates, posted a message online attacking Hochul.

"Kathy Hochul is an evil woman," Minaj wrote. "The Democratic Party should forfeit her seat because even if she wins, she will be of great consequence to them. Downward spiral for her. She will not escape God's wrath. She did not denounce evil when she had the chance."

Minaj added that Hochul keeps "horrible company" and failed to condemn wrongdoing. Hochul responded during a campaign stop in Albany. "I think she should ought to get outside and get offline a little more. And stop going to Trump rallies because it's poisoning your mind," she said.

Minaj appeared with Trump at a Michigan rally earlier this week. The musician has urged young voters to "vote red." This marks a shift from 2018, when Minaj endorsed Hochul for lieutenant governor.

Hochul is currently polling with a double-digit lead over Republican challenger Bruce Blakeman. Blakeman is on a statewide tour aimed at energizing Republican voters before Election Day.
