Jurors in the murder trial of rapper Yella Beezy heard testimony connecting the defendant to a hotel reservation from the month of the victim's death. A West Hollywood hotel employee stated that Markies Conway, who performs as Yella Beezy, was listed as an additional guest on a booking in November 2020. This period coincides with the killing of fellow rapper MO3 in Dallas.
The trial has moved past an anticipated witness. Theodore Thomas, known as Jose Bodega, was expected to testify regarding the alleged murder-for-hire plot. When questioned by prosecutors, Thomas repeatedly invoked his 5th Amendment right against self-incrimination. He had previously provided testimony before the grand jury that indicted Conway.
Federal Reserve Bank of New York officials also took the stand to discuss photographic evidence of currency. Mount Pleasant police officer Juan Hernandez described a traffic stop involving Kewon White. Hernandez reported recovering firearms, drugs, and approximately $10,000 in cash during the encounter. He noted that he typically does not record serial numbers but believed the money was deposited the following day.
Prosecutors maintain that Conway paid White and another man to kill MO3. White was convicted in September 2025 and sentenced to life in prison. The state must convince the jury that Conway directed the payment for the killing to secure a conviction.
The second defendant, Devin Brown, is scheduled to face trial later this year. Conway's trial is expected to continue for two to three weeks as the state presents its final evidence.
