The Seattle Seahawks added veteran offensive guard Quenton Nelson to their roster on Tuesday by trading with the Indianapolis Colts. The deal sent a 2027 third-round selection and a 2028 fifth-round pick to Indianapolis in exchange for the 30-year-old lineman.
Nelson is on an expiring contract that ends after the 2026 season. The Colts opted to receive future draft capital rather than risk losing the player in free agency. ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported the agreement, noting that an all-time Colt was moving on to the Seahawks.
Nelson entered the league as the sixth overall pick in the 2018 NFL Draft out of Notre Dame. He has spent his entire professional career in Indianapolis. During that time, he earned eight Pro Bowl selections and six All-Pro honors, including first-team recognition in his first three seasons.
The Seahawks, winners of Super Bowl LX, enter Week 8 with a 4-3 record. The addition aims to bolster the offensive line in both the running game and pass protection. Nelson has played in all seven games for Indianapolis this season.
The trade occurs during a difficult stretch for the Colts. Indianapolis is 2-5 and has lost three consecutive games. The organization fired general manager Chris Ballard on Oct. 19. Interim general manager Ed Dodds is now overseeing personnel decisions as the team evaluates its direction before the trade deadline.
