Heidi Klum changed her annual Halloween tradition for the 25th edition of the New York City party held Saturday. Instead of wearing a costume, she became the costume, appearing as a massive severed left hand. The look covered her entire body, leaving only her eyes and mouth visible to onlookers.
The prosthetic piece included specific personal details. Klum wore her engagement ring and wedding band on the thumb of the giant hand. A tattoo of her husband Tom Kaulitz’s name was placed on the ring finger of the prop. Long red nails and a thumb ring completed the design. The top of the hand displayed dangling ligaments and tendons to create a gruesome effect.
Klum said the concept formed last year when she looked at her own hand. She stated, “Hey, I think I could fit my body in this somehow.” The application process took five to six hours. She noted that the physical weight made the experience difficult. Klum added, “Hands down, the hardest thing is carrying it.”
Helpers in blood-stained hazmat suits assisted her throughout the evening. Klum had previously gone viral in 2022 for arriving on a fishing line in a worm costume. Her past outfits include Medusa, a peacock, an 8-foot Transformer, a werewolf, a clone, and the Hindu goddess Kali.
Tom Kaulitz missed the event due to a music tour. Klum shared hints on Instagram earlier in the day as the prosthetics were applied to her face. She described the tattoo on the ring finger as a way to include her husband in the night. She said, “A little bit of Tom is with me.”
