Kyle Konrardy kicked a 34-yard field goal as the clock hit zero to give Iowa State a 51-49 win over No. 24 Oklahoma State on Saturday night.

The result ended a two-game losing streak for the Cyclones, who had managed only 13 points in their previous two contests. The team improved to 4-4 overall and 2-3 in Big 12 play. Oklahoma State dropped to 5-3 overall and 3-2 in conference play.

Oklahoma State took a 49-48 lead with 53 seconds remaining. Quarterback Drew Mestemaker faked a handoff and threw a 7-yard touchdown pass to Wyatt Young. Officials called Young for unsportsmanlike conduct after the score. The penalty moved the ball back on the ensuing kickoff, giving Iowa State favorable field position.

Iowa State coach Jimmy Rogers said the penalty was a major factor. "Obviously, a super disappointing one," Oklahoma State coach Eric Morris said of the loss. He described the defeat as a series of self-inflicted wounds. Morris specifically called Young's penalty "the most selfish play of the night."

The Cyclones drove 47 yards in five plays to set up the final kick. Jaylen Raynor threw a 33-yard pass to Jamal Polite on the first snap of the drive. Raynor finished the game with 309 passing yards, three touchdowns, and a rushing score. Aiden Flora added 221 rushing yards and two touchdowns for Iowa State.

Oklahoma State's offense produced 1,114 combined yards with Iowa State. Mestemaker threw for 323 yards and five touchdowns. Running back Caleb Hawkins rushed for 194 yards. Polite caught passes for 171 yards. Six scoring plays in the game covered 40 yards or more. Mestemaker called the loss tough and said it sucked in every part.

Rogers praised Konrardy as the best kicker in the country. He noted the team needed the win after struggling offensively recently. This is the first win against a ranked opponent for Rogers since arriving at Iowa State in the offseason. He said he would wake up the same way regardless of the result and continue to analyze the game.

Both teams travel next Saturday. Oklahoma State plays at Kansas State. Iowa State hosts Baylor. Raynor started all four quarters despite being replaced in the second half of the previous week's loss to Arizona. He completed 18 of 28 passes in the win.
