Voters heading to the polls on Tuesday face a choice between parties that will control Congress for the next two years. With that decision looming, President Donald Trump shifted his final campaign message toward infrastructure. On Monday, he traveled from the White House to the Lincoln Memorial to mark the completion of repairs to the Reflecting Pool.

The Interior Department spent several months on the project. Trump described the work as finished and the pool as improved. He also reiterated his claim that vandalism had played a role in the pool's condition. "The people from Interior have been incredible," the President said. "And the pool is now better and more beautiful than it’s ever been before."

This visit capped a campaign period that included nearly 30 rallies. Trump framed the upcoming vote as the most important in a lifetime. He criticized the Democratic Party for selecting a slate of candidates he called extreme and dangerous. "These are the most dangerous candidates ever put up," he stated.

Pollsters report that the high cost of living is the top issue for many voters. Trump did not address that specific concern during his remarks. Instead, he highlighted what he described as a strong and resilient U.S. economy.

Historical trends suggest the party in power loses seats in midterm elections. Republicans currently hold a razor-thin majority in Congress. They are attempting to defy that pattern. Recent polls indicate a potential for strong Democratic performance in the 2026 cycle.

The President’s final public appearance before the election focused on physical improvements to a national monument. This choice of venue stands out given the economic anxieties reported by voters. The campaign trail is now closed as the nation prepares to cast its ballots.
