The Miss Universe Organization asked fans around the world to decide which social causes matter most to the pageant's future queens. This move comes just under a month before the organization celebrates its 75th anniversary in Puerto Rico. The initiative, named Beyond the Crown, asks the public to look past the gowns and judge the work the delegates do in their communities.
Delegates from more than 91 countries have uploaded videos explaining the causes they champion. Since the voting window opened, the public has cast over 165,000 votes. These projects cover a wide range of issues, including education, health, environmental protection, equality, and community development. Each video shows how the candidates use their platforms to push for specific changes.
The organization stated that the initiative reflects its belief that beauty goes beyond physical appearance. According to the statement, having influence brings a responsibility to others. The delegates use this platform to tell their stories and introduce the communities they support. They invite the audience to back causes that are meaningful to them.
The projects align with the 17 Sustainable Development Goals set by the United Nations. The initiative encourages delegates to raise awareness, build partnerships, and turn ideas into concrete actions. They achieve this through community participation, collaboration with nonprofit organizations, and fundraising efforts. The goal is to make their social commitments tangible and measurable.
Fans can watch the delegate videos and vote for their favorite initiative using the official Miss Universe app or the organization's online page. The public can also continue voting in the People's Choice category. This category allows fans to help their favorite delegate secure a spot among the 30 semifinalists of the competition.
The 75th edition of the Miss Universe pageant will take place at the José Miguel Agrelot Coliseum in Puerto Rico. The Traditional Gowns competition is scheduled for November 21. The Preliminary competition will follow on November 22. The Grand Final will occur on November 24. Jacky Bracamontes and Carlos Adyan will host the final night, which Telemundo will broadcast as the official channel for the event.
