The Washington Commanders scored 27 consecutive points against the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday night, erasing a 10-0 first-quarter deficit to win 27-10 at Suburban Bank Park in Landover, Maryland.
This marked Washington's first victory in more than a month and Philadelphia's sixth consecutive loss. The Commanders, who returned from a bye week, struggled early with a series of penalties that left them behind before the Eagles' first offensive drive concluded.
The timeline of the game shifted decisively in the second quarter. Kicker Drew Stevens missed an initial 55-yard field goal attempt and running back Chig Okonkwo fumbled. However, Stevens later connected on a 56-yard kick late in the first quarter. In the second quarter, quarterback Jayden Daniels found Stefon Diggs for an 8-yard touchdown, tying the score at 10-10. Washington led 13-10 at halftime.
After the break, the Commanders' defense tightened. They held the Eagles scoreless for the final three and a half quarters. The defensive unit recorded five sacks on Eagles quarterback Tanner McKee and intercepted one pass. The Eagles managed only 268 total yards, with 199 of those coming on their final drive of the game.
Daniels finished with 217 passing yards and one touchdown. It was his first win as a starter since the Commanders defeated the Los Angeles Chargers on Oct. 5, 2025. Wide receiver Terry McLaurin was absent, allowing Daniels to build chemistry with other targets. He said, "It’s a blessing from God just to go out there, and everything I’ve been through in my career so far." Daniels took a hard hit during the final drive of the first half and was slow to rise but remained in the game.
For Philadelphia, running back Saquon Barkley ran for a 3-yard touchdown in the first quarter but was limited to 30 yards on 13 carries. The Eagles finished with 91 rushing yards. Quarterback Tanner McKee, in his third start this season for the injured Jalen Hurts, passed for 212 yards without a touchdown.
Coach Dan Quinn of Washington acknowledged the slow start. "When you come off of a bye, you either rev right up or you need a minute to warm up, and we took a minute," Quinn said. Cornerback Trey Amos added, "We just made adjustments. We started a little bit slow.. after those adjustments, everybody came together to try and figure out a plan. It worked out."
Coach Nick Sirianni of the Eagles admitted the team is feeling the weight of its recent losses. "I know nobody feels sorry for us, that’s for damn sure," Sirianni said. "We have to do everything we can do to fix it so we don’t have this feeling for the last six games. Obviously, it sucks." Barkley agreed, noting, "We’re not the big bad Eagles anymore."
The Commanders currently stand two games behind the first-place New York Giants in the NFC East. The Eagles occupy last place in the division. Safety Michael Carter suffered an abdominal injury for Philadelphia, while running back Jeremy McNichols left with a left foot injury for Washington.
Both teams return to action this coming Sunday. The Eagles will host the Giants, while the Commanders will welcome the Los Angeles Rams.
