Twelve advance voting locations in Johnson County, Kansas, close their doors at noon Monday, Nov. 2, marking the end of early voting for a large portion of the Kansas side of the metro area. This midday deadline stands in contrast to the later closing times in neighboring Missouri.
Wyandotte County offers a single final option for early voters. The Wyandotte County Election Office will be the only site open Monday, accepting ballots from 8 a.m. to noon. In Johnson County, all 12 designated locations will follow the same schedule, requiring voters to arrive before 12:00 p.m. to cast their ballots.
Across the state line, Missouri election boards are providing longer hours for the final day of no-excuse in-person absentee voting. In Kansas City, which lies within Jackson County, the Election Board office is the sole location available. It will remain open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday.
Residents in Jackson County outside of Kansas City have two additional choices for Monday. The Independence Absentee Office and Woods Chapel Community of Christ will both accept ballots from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Clay County voters must go to the Clay County Election Board office at 100 W. Mississippi St. in Liberty, where hours run from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Those who do not vote by Monday's deadlines will cast ballots at their assigned neighborhood precincts on Election Day, Tuesday, Nov. 3. Polling places in both Kansas and Missouri open at 6 a.m. and close at 7 p.m. that day.
