Nicki Minaj is facing intense online criticism following the 2026 midterm elections.

The rapper campaigned for Republican candidates and appeared at a polling station in New Hampshire on Tuesday. Her presence failed to shift the outcome of the state's Senate race. Democrat Chris Pappas defeated Republican John Sununu to win the seat.

Minaj arrived at the polling location at Pinkerton Academy in Derry under police escort. Video footage showed her posing for photographs with white Republican voters. She smiled during the photo op, though some observers noted her expression looked uncomfortable at times. A woman in the crowd told Minaj she looked beautiful and thanked her for touring with President Trump. Minaj then boarded an unmarked tour bus.

Social media users on X and YouTube quickly turned the election results into jokes at Minaj's expense. One user on X wrote, "The Republicans are about to throw Nicki's ass away." Another commenter on a video posted by NBCLA asked, "She realizes that she just blew her career, right???" A third user on X noted that every Republican candidate Minaj endorsed in the 2026 midterms lost to a Democrat.

The backlash extends beyond New Hampshire. In Michigan, Democrat Abdul El-Sayed received 52.53% of the vote, totaling 2,500,450 votes. Republican Mike Rogers received 45.47% of the vote, or 2,164,450 votes, according to the Associated Press. Minaj was spotted with President Trump at a rally in Port Huron last month to support Republican candidates.

Horror film creator Don Mancini joined the online commentary on X. He wrote, "Too bad, Nicki! No AI, by the way! #bluewave."

The political spotlight on Minaj has intensified speculation about her potential role in the White House administration. On October 25, White House Communications Director Steven Cheung shared a video of Minaj aboard Air Force One. He captioned the clip, "Ladies and gentlemen, I think we may have found the new White House Press Secretary!" In the video, Cheung asked Minaj why she believes the economy is booming. Minaj replied, "Well it’s booming because we have a president that understands economics first of all… the president is naturally a business man. He’s worked his way out of not having a dollar left in the bank, so if he could do that…surely he knows what to do with the country. He’s very tough."
