Ole Miss football held steady at No. 12 in the Associated Press Top 25 released on Monday. The Rebels did not gain or lose ground despite a 45-15 victory over Auburn on Saturday at home. The result extended Ole Miss's season record to 6-2 overall and 4-2 in the SEC.
The offensive rhythm was slow during the first half. Auburn capitalized on third-down struggles by the Ole Miss defense to score a touchdown in the third quarter. The Tigers failed a two-point conversion attempt, narrowing the lead to 17-15. From that point, Ole Miss scored 28 unanswered points to secure the win.
Quarterback Trinidad Chambliss shifted the momentum with his rushing ability. He extended multiple drives by gaining first downs on the ground and found the end zone on a designed run. The defense limited Auburn's dual-threat quarterback, Byrum Brown, to five rushing yards in the second half.
Head coach Pete Golding attributed the late-game performance to improved execution on defense. He noted that the unit stopped Auburn from moving the chains on long-yardage situations in the final two quarters. This defensive stand allowed the offense to control the pace and close out the contest comfortably.
Ole Miss faces a critical test on Saturday when it hosts No. 2 Georgia. The game is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. CT. ABC and participating SuperTalk Mississippi stations will broadcast the matchup. A win against the Bulldogs would offer the Rebels a chance to climb further in the national rankings.
The first College Football Playoff poll of the 2026-27 season will be released on Tuesday. This new ranking system will take precedence over other polls in determining postseason standings.
